You may find a barrel as good as a Rayl, but you will not find a better one. If it does not shoot to your expectations, you will need to look no farther than yourself for the reason.

Ed Rayl ? No one can do it better--no one. Have used his rifle AND smoothbores for 20 yr. Every one is a one off custom made by hand item, as stated "they will outshoot you...only problem is he's soooo good & in demand, expect at least a years wait time. Worth it. Can you tell I'm a mite biased ? Rayl bbl. Chamber's, lock wood to suit--don't come any better. .....Tom

English game rifle 30" Rayl bbl. 1 hole at 50 yards.....

Ok, if we are going to start showing pictures...Here is a target from my .54 that has a 1-72 Ed Rayle barrel on her...

And here she is, my interpretation of what a 1770 rifle from the piedmont of NC could have looked like...Her name is Daisy, after her patchbox...

I started her in '88, finished in '90...

And here I am showing her off at a middle school that I give talks to each year...This was from our local paper's front page...

I sure like the way that Rayl barrel shoots. I have long wanted to replace my T/C barrel in my T/C Hawken with a barrel like that. I'd also like to replace the T/C lock with one from Jim Chambers........and a Deer Slayer trigger would be an improvement, too. Later when I had the time, I might replace the stock with a nice piece of wood from some place like Pecatonica. Come to think of it, I'd like to replace the brass furniture with steel. Just a few minor improvements on my T/C Hawken that I'd like to make. Other than those few minor things, I'm pretty fond of my T/C Hawken.
