Can some one tell me where I can find an example of this style of barrel and what type of guns would have had them?

I made this one to have a 16 sided section. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo showing this section very well. http://photobucket.com/albums...locks/?action=view&current=fowlinggunweb4.jpg

here's one I did a couple of years ago with a short 16-sided section. http://photobucket.com/albums...cks/?action=view&current=7119170-R1-013-5.jpg

It's not particular to any style of gun. I've seen English barrels done this way, French barrels, German barrels, Spanish barrels....with or without a "wedding band".

Issac Berlin made a smoothbore .62 caliber. He was from Easton, Pa. I'm not sure of the date, my guess would be around 1770-1775. His barrel featured 1 1/8" breech 8 sided octogan tampered to the muzzle At around 14" from the breech there was a wedding band transition to 16 sided area(I'm guessing this feature was dressed for the 16 sided area on the exposed area only) this 16 sided feature was around 5 or 6" to another wedding band transition to round and tapered to the muzzle round. Its a lovely looking barrel. The blue print for this rifle can be had from TRACK OF THE WOLF and MUZZLELOADERS BUIDERS SUPPLY for around $10. Hope this helped...............George F.

I think the Mortimer flintlock rifles which were imported not too long ago go from 8 to 16 via a wedding band. If they are still beeing sold you may find a picture somewhere.
