Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
Have you tried Rich Pierce, at [email protected] I have on of his flints on my fowler and it has about 70 strikes on it. I have not ordered yet but his prices are good.
What lock are you using and how wide is the frizzen?
5/8" is a little on the small-ish side...flints are normally ordered based upon the width of the frizzen.
For example, year's ago when TC first came out with their Flintlocks, they suggested 5/8" flints but in reality 3/4" wide flints work far better for me in TC's medium sized locks than 5/8".
I am shooting a 32 caliber Pedersoli Pennsylvania flintlock. The width of my frizzen is 5/8". I tried some 5/8" x 3/4" flints but they were too long...couldn't put the hammer on half cock. It seems that 5/8" x 5/8" flints are just about right.
Do you know were I can find flints cheaper than $1.50 each? :hmm:

Seeing as the OP specified English flints, I think we should point out that the flints Rich sells are not English flints. Rich knaps chert that he finds locally in Missouri. They work great & the price is good, but if you order them expecting English flints that is not what you'll be getting. However, order some & try them, I think you'll like them.....I did.
I ordered two dozen flints from Rich. One dozen of 3/4" for my GPR and one dozen of 7/8" for my Pedersoli Blue Ridge. The guys are right. They are not English flints, They are good, old American chert. They are grayish white in color, but they spark like heck. And you can't beat his prices, unless you knap them yourself. Drop Rich a line. Real nice guy to deal with. You'll be happy you did  .
