My 12 ga. fowler did it's duty and laid this Tom low. I called the turkey to within 30yd's. I had to shoot through a little brush but enough shot got through to his head and neck to knock him floppin. The bird weighed 20# with an 8 5/8th" beard.

The gun was made for me by Jud Brennan in 1979. It is a real close copy of an original that was in a private collection. It shoots a round ball center and has won many Trade Gun matches in years past. This is the first turkey I've taken with it and it did a fine job. I had her loaded with 90gr's 1F,card over, fiber wad, 1 3/4 oz mixed shot (no shot cup). Primed with 4F.

Great pics. Nice to have the chance to take one that way. I'm jealous!!!!!!Our choice for turkey is ..frozen or really frozen!

Bravo....

Did you wear camo or did you go out like that. The reason I asked is I was thinking about just wear dark greens and khakis out the next time I went.

Beautiful bird AND fowler :redthumb: Thanks for posting the photos. There's somethin' really cool about doing it the old way :RO:

Excellent work...congratulation on putting it all together for a successful hunt against a wary adversary!

Nice going!
Great pics too!
I'll be out on the 9th of May.
We have 5 tags to fill here this year.
I'm going to be one tired turkey caller.
Hope we do as good as you.

Slowpoke,
I wore what you see in the picture, no como except for the hat. A green Woolrich wool shirt over a sweat shirt (it was 31 degrees at dawn) and black Wrangler jeans. Turkeys see color but I think if you wear mute colors it's as good as camo. Movement is what they'll pick up quicker than color. I keep my gun in position so I don't have to move it much when it comes time to make smoke.

Longhunter - Great bird and a beautiful fowler. Congrats on your accomplishment!!
