FOR SALE Euroarms Enfield Naval Pattern "2 Band" Rifle

This rifle up for sale is in very good condition in my opinion. There are a few minor dings in the wood and slight wear on the edges and underside where the barrel bands slide on and off. The bluing on the barrel is excellent. Sling swivels have some surface rust.
Mechanically the lock and barrel are in excellent condition.
The ramrod seems to be a replacement brass rod. It fits loosely in the ramrod channel but is functional.

In our recreation of this famous naval rifle we referred to the original 1858 two-band Enfield kept in the Tower of London and faithfully followed the original specification. Our reproduction 1858 has consistently won top honours in military rifle competitions in countries all over the world. It currently holds the worlds record with ninety nine points and took four out of seven top places in the European Championships in 1988.

These are supposed to be the most historically accurate reproductions of this weapon available based on what I've read. I priced based on similar postings.

For information, the Euroarms Enfields, like the Parker Hales before them, were based off of "Type 4" Enfields. They (at least Parker Hale) used Royal Armouries gauges to produce them. However, these kinds of Enfields were not used by Union or Confederate forces during the Civil War. While the furniture is not right or correct for the WBTS use…the five groove rifling certainly is. This rifling in the ‘58 Navy rifle combine with the English Cartridge (Pritchett) bullet certainly was used to good effect.

The rifle and this load was the precision rifle of the Confederate Army.

The price IMHO is very good. If I were in a position to buy this I would. Such a rifle would be on sale for 1200 Euros over here.

I had a Parker Hale version of this bored out to .58 smooth back in the 90's when I was a Union Soldier in the U.K. branch of the American Civil War Society. Although the inauthenticity of its use in the Union line of battle was mentioned by one or two people, it was also said that undoubtedly some of them found their way into the ranks of the Confederacy before the blockade tightened up. I was damned if I was going to change sides and have to buy a whole new set of gear for such a tiny lapse of authenticity! It was a beautiful gun, and even though bereft of its rifling, it could still slam a well - patched and lubed ball into a railway sleeper at 50 yds with a reasonable grouping. I am glad @brazosland mentioned it was a Navy rifle; on checking this it turns out that the Royal Navy and their marine detachments did indeed use them in the mid 19th cent. I was unaware of this and have often wondered why Parker Hale made so many of these when they dont seem to show up on any of the old ACW photos, or contemporary photos of British line infantry. I wish I still had it.
EDIT: I understand that Cook and Brother made a very close copy of this rifle, which actually WAS widespread among Confederate forces.

Euro arms does not have progressive rifling nor is it 1-48 twist as stated above. Sights should be for 1100 yards not 900 yards which is for the 1853 three band rifle.
