Euroarms Kentuckian .44 caliber questions

On a visit to my local ML shop today (love that place, so glad it's still here) I saw a Euroarms Kentuckian rifle in .44 caliber from the '70's in pristine condition, probably never been shot. What else could I do? I bought it. Muzzleloader Supply is an excellent shop, of course, and they had balls in the right size on the shelf. I bought two boxes, so I'm set for a couple of weeks.
This is where I need your help. The ramrod is too short for the barrel by a few inches, but it sticks out from the end of the barrel about a quarter of an inch when placed in the ramrod pipes. This might mean there is a ramrod tip or something inside the stock. If it does, how do I get it out? If there isn't a tip or something else blocking the base of the ramrod home, then I'll need a new ramrod but it will project beyond the end of the barrel when firing. Something is wrong. What do you think?

Another question. My .45 caliber brush, jag, worms and ball pullers seem to work fine in the barrel. But should I seek out .44 caliber cleaning jags, etc.? .44 caliber cleaning tools don't seem to exist.

Those are pretty good guns. I've got one in flint with a 28 inch barrel. .45 caliber. Shoots great, light weight, and accurate. How good is the fit with the jag with a cleaning patch? That would be my biggest concern. As long as the other tools fit without getting stuck they might be fine.

If you take the pins out, left to right, you should easily be able to get to any obstructions blocking the rod. If you do this now would be a good time to give everything a good cleaning before you put it back together.

I had one of those. It came with a threaded extension which was a real PITA to use. Get a good range rod.

Like Pete G I also owned one. The ramrod was short and came with a screw-on extension. No help for it. If you can hunt deer with a .44 where you live that ramrod combo will be okay for the field. For target shooting - a range rod is usually a good idea anyway.

Sounds like I need to drill out the ramrod channel to fit a proper ramrod. Most ramrods that come with guns need replacement.
It's a very poor design decision to make a channel shorter than the length of the ramrod needed. I'm surprised because everything else about the gun is well done.
