I'm from Flanders (Bruges). I'm surching some time now for a musket. There's an organisation that sell muskets. But I would like to know more about the organisation and there product from there clients. So if you have any experience with them and if you would like to share it with me and other people, let us know

Here is an old thread on Military Heritage muskets, it covers both good and bad points...

Zerrie , I have a 2nd model Dublin Castle. I think it is well worth the money, the barrel is heavier than the originals, But it is under 10 lbs. The lock is strong and fast. the metal parts are high polish finish.(I blued mine for huntin'). hope I've helped ,Oh by the way the people at M.H. will always find time to answer any questions

I echo Hawk's experiences for the most part. However, I have found that the threads on the ramrod, lock bolts and other items are quite poorly cut. I lost the foreward lock bolt and have struggled to replace it as nothing seems to work in its place.

I would ask to purchase some spare parts as part of my initial purchase as they are less accommodating once you have accepted delivery.

If you can get an extra lock bolt, please let me know -- I will buy it.

On the other hand, I would still consider them for another purchase as I did get a lot of gun for the money. In fact I am looking at a French musket and may go through them,

Actually, that is what I will likely do. However, it is a pretty big bolt and hole, so I will likely need to fill it, drill it and then tap it. No big deal, but getting the right bolt would be a lot easier. I do have a field expedient patch for the moment. No, I don't care to discuss it -- as it is not recommended, I am sure. :)

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Take it to a local machinist in a "Job Shop", tell them to make 4 pcs. Probably cost $20, no shipping, no B.S.

Hello All,

A member of my Jacobite group ordered in a French Model 1728 musket from The Discriminating General aka Military Heritage and as the "gunsmith" for my group I was impressed with the overall fit and finish of the gun.

However the frizzen was too soft to spark... quite a disapointment based off of their website:
We use a cyanide case-hardening factory process that makes sparking both more reliable and longer lasting. Presently no other musket provider uses this technique.
A quick call to Military Heritage got us a new frizzen (taken from a gun in inventory... they don't stock parts )and the gun was up and running in minutes. It throws a good shower of sparks and it shoots well. We took it to the range and the new owner was able to keep all shots within 5 inches at 15 yards offhand with a .63 round ball and 100 grains of FFg.

My biggest complait other than the frizzen was the muzzle was not square... it was cut on a angle...

Military Heritage claims they will order in parts if needed... but from CrackStock's prior post it sounds like they might have told me a bit of :bull:...

For the money I found this a great deal and a better sparker than my North Star Officer Fusil...

Cheers,

DT
