What a great hunt we had! We flew in on Saturday, getting to camp too late to do any hunting that day, so we just settled into camp. There were 6 hunters, the guide & his tracking dog in camp. Sunday we were in the boats & headed to our hunting areas just as it got light. By late morning we had four bulls on the ground. (one was my first bull) Monday four more were taken. Tuesday I got my second bull (with a flintlock!) & two others got theirs also. Wednesday the one remaining hunter with an open tag hunted, but didn't get anything. Thursday the final tag for our group was filled. :applause:

We were supposed to fly out Friday morning, but a blinding snowstorm forced the float planes to turn back to their base. Then the wind never let up enough for the planes to come get us until Sunday morning. Even with the delay getting out to come home it was the best trip ever!

My new video camera crapped out the first day of the hunt, so I don't have any video to post. I didn't have any other camera with me either. :( The other hunters in the group & the guide are going to be sending me pictures, though & I'll post the pic's when I get them. The pic's of my flintlock bull won't get to me until just before Christmas though because the guide will be "in the bush" until then.

Thats cool! Congrats! We will wait for the pics :haha:

Congratulations. At least you all ate well while you waited for the weather to ease up. Can't wait to see the pictures. :hatsoff:

That is GREAT! There's just nothing like hunting to cleanse your soul. Congratulations.

We were in Northern Quebec, 755 miles northwest of Montreal.

I was using this .54 Tip Curtis rifle, loaded with 80gr of FFg Goex, a pillow tick patch lubed with Moose Snot & a .530 Hornady round ball:

The ball entered the caribou at the front of his left shoulder & exited his right side behind the shoulder. My shot was a little high & just clipped the top of his left lung & went thru the middle of the top lobe of his right lung. The animal expired within about 100-150 yards from where he was when I shot.

I hope that one day Dad and I will be able to do a caribou hunt. I am very intrigued by the winter hunt for Caribou in Quebec starting November 15th.

That would be a fun muzzleloading hunt.

If you're interested in getting a bull with antlers, don't wait for the winter hunt. They say that that's more of a meat hunt. They also say that the meat from bulls harvested that late (after the rut) isn't too good tasting either. :barf:

Interesting information about the winter hunt. I knew that it is more of a meat hunt but that would not be an issue for me. To be blunt, I have a morbid fear of flying so I want a hunt that I can drive to. This would be one that I could go on. In addition, it would be a great experience to see the boreal forest in wintertime. You can also shoot small game.

I'd probably take my TC Black Mountain Magnum 12 guage for small game like hare and ptarmigan and take a .50 caliber barrel for the caribou.
