Favorite events 1750 - 1790 timeframe

Mrs Coot & I are set up for events in the 1750 -1790 timeframe.
Martin's Station and Fort Frederick are two of our favorites. Last year we tried & enjoyed Fort Bledsoe and Fort Dobbs and the Colonial Market Fair at the Army Heritage & Education Center.
What events in our timeframe (we also go to several pre 1840 events but that is a different question) have you enjoyed?

I enjoy the smaller events we go to, as they are usually held on the same ground that history was made and that we, as a unit, were actually there. Bound Brook, Monmouth, Newtown, Brandywine, Germantown, Ft. Mifflin.

Hey Coot is the Colonial faire ya mentioned the one ya can see from the highway(81 I think) over around(north of) Greencastle Pa,? Went over to a buddies back in Oct n saw some blockhouse like structures n such from the highway n was wondering if it was where that event had taken place. Looked awesome from the road n might try to attend this next year if I can. YMHS Birdman

F&I War events at Fort Niagara and at Fort Ligonier are great too. The former is in July and the latter the 2nd weekend of October each year. Prickett's Fort in West Virginia has some nice events throughout the year as well. At least once a year I get to Fort Necessity and make a whole day of it by also going to nearby Ohiopyle state park, Jumonville Glen, and the outdoor wildlife zoo.

The colonial fair that I mentioned is at the Army Heritage & Education Center in Carlisle, PA. It is visible from I-81 on the west side of the interstate. Try www.carlisle.army.mil/ahec for info.

I kind of like it when I get a chance to do a program on King's Mountain. It is a great site but there are no venders and no food unless you bring it yourself. Cowpens is usually good it's coming up on the 17th and 18th of January. Huck's Defeat is real good with a good selection of venders it is just so hot down in York County SC in July. Of the three I would say Huck's is the best. Plus you don't have to bring as much wool
in SC in July!!!! :thumbsup:

Since you're bringing the Mrs. I highly recomend the Ft. Fredrick market fair. A great selection of vendors and a place to live fire your flinter as well.

Thanks for the plug and yes we are holding the event again this year. Dates are 18-20 Sept. 2009. This is an 18th century Market Faire with about 100 differnt vendors and nearly 200 troops from 1750's through 1800.
