Several of you use felt wads beneath your round balls in your cap and ball revolvers and muzzle loaders. Has anyone tried the vetetable fiber wads like sold by Track of the Wolf? They are much cheaper.

Felt holds lube.
Veg fiber won't.
I believe the felt wad serves dual purpose. One to act as a semi gas seal and two to help clean the bore of fouling from the previous shot.
I don't think a veg wad would do it.

I've always used lubed felt wads over the powder for PRB and Conical.

I believe that vegetable wads are for BP catridge use and are to be dry when used.
