Ok,ok I realize that this may be sacrilegious and I myself have been using the same October Country possibles bag for the past 30 years and it very well may have several more lifetimes left in it.

So this is just for discussion. It seems to me that the Filson small field bag would make a ideal possible/shooting bag. Great size and pocket options. What say you? Anyone use or have considered using one in this role?

It's too big for general use for my tastes, but a lot of guys like them big.

I have a canvas fowler bag about that size, and with shot flask, day horn, wads and more inside it, it's about half full. The 4" dimension is most decidedly too big, as it lets things shift all over tarnation as you move. I've always been inspired to make one from oiled leather but 8x6x3 rather than that one's 10x9x4. Just haven't got around to it.

As for "correct?" Meh. Not my worry.

BTW- Oiled canvas is really noisy in the brush compared to leather. If you're a brush hunter, you're going to hate it.

I made two of my shooting bags and they were the smaller size as suggested by Brown Bear.

Yeah, my 30 year old October Country measures 8w x 7h x 2d. It's been a favorite of mine all these years.
