Well, I finally got to try Pinnacle Powder today. T/C White Mountain Carbine, .54 caliber, 21" barrel, fiber optic sights, Hornady .530 round balls, T/C prelubed .015" patches. Dynamit Nobel musket caps. 80 grains Pinnacle FFFG. Ignition was flawless. I did swab between shots, as with this new powder, I wanted to see what kind of accuracy I would get. (Fouling was minimal, as with American Pioneer Powder) I shot 1 to 2" groups at 50 yards. The 2" groups were at the end of my shooting session, as the barrel was heating up. The FFFG was slightly courser than APP,FFFG. Overall I was impressed with it's performance today. Clean-up was easy with hot water. Before I give it a total thumbs up, I will be trying it in my other ml's, but if todays performance is what this powder is about, I think it may be a winner. I may get some FFG to try in my in-lines.

"Clean-up was easy with hot water."

Glad ya like it, but if clean up was easy with hot water, where is the advantaqe over real BP? Water cleans it up easy also.

Good show...I think the Vermont deer herd is in serious trouble this fall!

Well, really never said there was an advantage over "real" black powder. I just like to know that there are choices available in powders. Just as I use Goex in my flinters, I like to try these newer "replicas", to see what thier plus, and minus is. Just as I own more than one type of ml, I use different powders in them. Makes life interesting!

Well then, i guess that explains it. :: I guess the way things are going with being able to get real BP, it is nice to know that there are alternatives, at least for caplocks.

Range rules. The only place that I have found to shoot is indoors and they only allow the fake stuff. Been using BM3.

kodiakemt414 have you ever gone to the nmlra web site and look up in the clubs area there has to be at least one outdoor rifle range out there , or checked with the N-SSA we've shot other muzzleloaders on the fort shennendoha range, check with the nmlra first but don't give up .. 75

I have one club close to me but they only meet once a month and I like to shoot more then that. That one time is not worth it to me to find the real stuff. The range that they use is also to much $$ for the few other times that I could get to use it. For now I will stick to the fake stuff and just enough the sport.
