Finally scratched this old itch

That would be a nice itch to scratch. I would enjoy having one along with a Walker and probably a whole bunch more to add to the 6 cap & ball revolvers I already have.

I have to say there is something about those Patersons. I picked up a pristine, unfired one with the loading lever this past summer. I haven't made the time to shoot it yet. But that is definitely in the future.

And can cross it off the bucket list.
Friend had it for years, wore it, handled it, but it has never been fired.

I hope you are going to remedy that at your convenience. That is one beautiful revolver, and shooting it will not diminish its value.

I have twice been to the Colt Museum in Patterson, NJ. A most enjoyable experience. It is in the original factory, a whole bunch of like new Patterson revolvers, cased sets with loaders, and some that were used out in Texas and on in to the Civil War.

Lots of other neat stuff too, including the Fenian Ram, a submarine built by John Holland in NY in 1881 for the Fenian Brotherhood.

And another one joins the Patterson club. I have had one for quite a few years. Now try and find the spring loaded charging flask. I have both the 5 shot one and the single shot one. I have gathering up the pieces when I can find them, for a presentation box. What I need is a functional repro capper. Mine is the Texas Patterson.
Have fun shooting it.
