Hi all, I'm living in Beaufort SC while my wife takes care of our new Marines. Thinking of getting back into iving history after many years away and overseas. Other than the link to the Southern Campaigns Magazine here and the Augusta LH Park, I've had little success finding out about events and sites within range of a tankfull of gas. Would love to get my kids interested and involved but have limited time and a totally whacked schedule. Any thoughts?
Thanks, Charles

The next one that I know of is Brattonsville.. near Rock Hill on July 12-13

Today (May 10th) is SC's observation of Confederate Memorial Day. There's a service today and reenactment of the Battle for Columbia tomorrow.

There's a lot of War Between the States activity around here. Not much from the Revolutionary period, unfortunately.

Oh, and you really should bring 'em up here to Charleston. We've got fort Moultrie - where the Palmetto log fort absorbed everything the Lobster Backs could throw at it. You can see the buildings where many of our Founding Fathers debated and worked, the plantations, and a lot more. It's a great place for the history buff.

I know it is not in SC but we are having an event this weekend in Elizabethton Tn at the Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area. Maybe a two tanker. It is the seige of the Fort by the indians in 1776 an actual event. We would love to have you and your Marines to help defend the fort.

Hey Partner- This weekend there will be a Rev War event @ Huntersville NC (N of Charlotte) www.ruralhill.net/nest.htm ...The next big event will be Huck's Defeat in Brattonsville (Rock Hill) SC in July as mentioned by others here. First weekend in November there is Camden SC and that definately would be a one tanker for you. I recommend you get a copy of the Smoke & Fire newspaper (published monthly)... You can get a sample copy by going to there website at www.smoke-fire.com/ They have the best most up to date listings of living history events and they are broken up into time line catagories.
Good luck... :v

There is a Revolutionary War re-enactment, I believe, the 1st weekend in Nov, at The Revolutionary War Park, just off I-20, between Columbia and Florence here is a link to their website http://www.camden-sc.org/revolutio...hp?PHPSESSID=505c2be92089502251a1606be074ab29
Camden is the oldest inland city in the US, (Their claim)
It is usually a very well done re-enactment, and it would be a very good chance to schmooze with folks that do the era you are interested in.
By the By, tell your Missus thanks for serving!!!
Hope to see y'all there.

We also have a re enactment in July at Brattonsville SC ( Huck's Defeat ) It's very well done also. It is a tad warmer than Camden in November. You won't need to bring as much wool
as you do for Camden.
