Stained and put one coat of finish on the Kentucky pistol that I've been working on. It's not perfect, but I'm still proud of it as it is my first muzzleloader that I've built from a blank (I also made my own forend cap from scratch). I now realize that I got a little too carried away shaping the forearm above the rear ramrod pipe sp that the rear ramrod pipe looks crooked, but other than that, I'm pleased. I'm looking forward to rubbing many coats of finish on it in the near future.

I'm also looking forward to shooting it on the 4th.

I really like the work on the stock.

Very nice. That will make a wonderful heirloom to pass on someday. I'll bet you already have another project in the works.I think it is an addiction of the best kind. Let us know how the fourth of July "christening" goes. Looking forward to more photos and future projects and ideas.

I never would have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.
The builder is always the most critical.
I think it's beautiful and great work.

Looks good to me... By the way, what did you use for stain and on what kind of wood?

That is a sweet looking pistol, I think you are to critical of your own work. It's enough to get me drooling......

Very nicely done - and congratulations on making such a fine piece from a blank (you're one big step ahead of me there!).

If you can, show some pics of it outdoors once you've got the finish finished.

Have fun with it on 4 July!

Yah know, I have absolutely no real use for a black powder pistol. Can't hunt with it. I don't target shoot pistols.

But after seeing yours, "I WANT ONE!" Just what I need another passion. :shocked2:
