I finished my GB mortar yesterday, And went with a sled type carriage Here's a pic
cohornmortar.jpg

the wedge on the far side is to place under the barrel for elevation. Hope you like

Great looking little carriage. :hatsoff:

Now all ya need to do is paint them golf balls black and stick a chunk o' fuse in em! :rotf: Make your own "19th" hole :rotf:

I plan on takin' her out and breaking her in this week end the powder well holds about 40g powder so I'll have to see what it'll do, I may have to make the hole a little bit bigger.

I couldn't find any oak so I made it out of an old piece of yellow pine I found in the shop,Then I decided to paint it gray to kind of match the cannon carriages of the civil war.

Thanks! to everyone for your kind hearted praise. I love working with metal and these projects keep me sane. Now I think I'm going to try to replicate a certain matchlock I saw on here somewhere  DAMB THIS DISEASE!!! :rotf: :rotf:

If your referring too mine thank you  and if i can be of help just ask.

Yep, thats the one, I really like the Whole idea of having every thing on the outside of the lock, I can probably figure most of it out by the pics but could possably use the measurments betweem the two pivot screws as a starting referance point. thanks in advance

I can get it too ya but the measurement will change depending on the shape of the serpentine and the lever. ya can cut a prototype from paper or tin too get a rough idea.
I`ll take some measurements and PT them too ya :)

Pitchy,

Thanks Again, I've got a .75 smooth pistol barrel about 14" long thats beggin' to be turned into a matchlock I may have to scale yours down a little.

An old timer taught me about making a prototype out of tin first, i`ve done it on several hot air engines i`ve built. You can drill holes where the pivot points ill be then lay it out on a board using thumb tacks. You can see the whole works in action before hittin the real metal, early computer program. :haha:

Thats a really good idea, It'll help me get everything where i want it on the trigger bar so it comes out right when I bend it.
Thanks again.

Thats...REALLY....very neat!
And also small enough to just up and go out to the bush with it.
