O.K., I'm getting ready to brown finish my barrell. I bought it as a kit "Lyman" .50 flinter. I was going to use LMF,seems easy enough to work with from I'm reading.

I guess my question is, do you fix the sights on the barrell first?, will that affix them, or can they still be adjustable after assembly?
 
If I recall, the Lyman has steel sights. When I finished one for my brother, I browned (with LMF) the sights separate from the barrel/rib assembly. I'm sure you could brown them together and still adjust the sights (since it's just rust), but you would probably have a greater risk of marring the finish that way.
