Made this knife for a friend who sufferd a heart attack last week and had a triple bypass,He is doing fine and thought I would post these for opinions on my firts knife. Made from oil hardening tool steel and hand shaped and stoned. The handles are maple with a brass backer between the wood and blade.

Thanks, I guess the last 20 years practicing and learning patience as a tool maker has helped me alot.

that mutch file work on a first knife is impresive my first one looked just like what it was a chunk of unknone steel shaped like a knife, machetee or whatever but it would hold an edge forever if you never cut anything with it, keep up the good work and keep posting pics.

Pilgrim,
Glad your friend is doing well! As to the
knife, first or 50th,it is a nice piece of
craftsmanship!:applause:
snake-eyes:hatsoff:

Tool and die makers have a great background for making darn near anything in my experience. Before he passed away, I had a friend who was that way, made some very nice things that ran the gamut as far as muzzleloading/rendezvous items.

Thanks for all the replys, I have started on my next one and spent 4 hours fitting a stag handle pruning knife to the blank before I start fileing the blade. I'll post a few shots in about a week when its done.

Outstanding looking knife!
...and that it is your first makes it that much more impressive.

Mine would probably look like DKNick's description.
