First Build with a Couple of Pictures

This is the first time I have ever posted here in the group, but I have been following along intently over the last 2 years learning a lot and using that information on my first build. She has plenty of flaws and mistakes, but I just see them as opportunity for improvement on the next one. I left it in the white for now as I work up a load and hunt with it for the remainder of December here in South Carolina. My plan is to rust blue with Laurel Mountain in January if I don't grow to love the bare metal.

She has a 42" Colerain .54 caliber swamped barrel 1-56" twist
Chambers Lock
I found a piece of curly maple I liked and made the stock from that.

I will be working up a load on Tuesday, so I will post an update on how she performs.

You spend much time in the Francis Marion? I am down there a good bit hunting pigs with a college buddy.

This is the rifle we talked about on Facebook, you did an amazing job with the re-shaping and one of the best staining/finishing jobs I have seen in a while. I see what you mean about the ramrod channel, I have one that was pre-carved by the P place that has a 3/8" web at the breech, very hard to work around to have a slender rifle at the lock.

Yes sir. It sure is, and I sincerely appreciate your advice on there. I made a mistake when I drilled the hole: I failed to realize a slight incline leading into the forestock when I began drilling, and that drifted the ramrod hole just about 5/16" out. The silver lining is that the ramrod now has it's own locking mechanism due to the upslope.
