Hello, I didn't want to bump my original post since it is a year old. I finished with this project after taking the advise of members and doing some more research into the "American Composite Musket" and here is what I came up with.

The barrel is a Colerain .75 Dutch musket barrel, cut back 5 inches. Chambers Christian Springs lock. Trigger is the York trigger from TOW and the guard is a reshaped French style. Thimbles are plain steel. Stained with Aqua Fortis and a couple coats of Tru Oil. I know I made MANY mistakes but learned alot and am happy as pig in sh!t with my gun.

Looks good to me :hatsoff:.

I will be starting my first build soon and hope it comes out as nice as yours.

That turned out nice! I am thinking about building one and hope it turns out as nice as yours.

Very nice! That .75 would put a deer down nicely!

Thanks all. I can't wait to shoot it. Still need to add a front sight and the bayonet lug. It was inspired by 8th great grandfather, William Haymond. As a member of The Virginia Regiment he served on Braddock and Forbes campaigns. He served from 1755 thru 1762 and later commanded the garrison at Pricketts Fort (1777 -1781) during the Revolution. A reconstructed fort is near the real forts location in Fairmont, WV. I had the pleasure of visiting his grave and the town he helped establish and that inspired me to build this composite musket.
