What an incredible day I had. Today was the first day of ML season in WV. I awoke and was delighted to see that it had snowed all night. I left the house in 18th century attire, and I was hunting with my new Early Virginia flintlock in .54 cal. I saw several deer at sunrise, but I couldn't get a good shot. I sat down and waited until 11:00. I decided to do a little "stalking". After a few minutes, two deer walked right up on me. I took a shot at the lead deer, but I missed ( I guess I flinched ). I went to look for blood, but there wasn't any (daggonit). I started backtracking, and out came another deer about 50 or 60 yards away. I steadied against a tree, and I concentrated on not flinching this time. I pulled the trigger and down it went. I thought it was a doe, but when I approached it I realized that it was a button buck. I was so excited. I have been wanting to kill a deer with a flinter for a few years now. What an incredible day.
