Today was the opening day for muzzle loader season in Alabama. I managed to get my first flintlock deer. It was a very small doe. I got her late in the day and had poor light and sixty-nine year old eyes. If I had been able to see better I would have passed on her.
Also I had given a guy that hunts with us a CVA Hawken .50. He wanted to try them smoke poles. I was no longer shooting the gun, so I gave it to him. He got his first muzzle-loader deer this morning. A rather large doe. He said you know , I think I will use this thing during regular gun season some. I think he is hooked!
And now the rest of the story! This morning I flat just missed a big at least six point buck! Me friend said those horns got in my eyes. He might just be right.

Life just keeps getting better, who said it stops when you hit thirty. Your batting a thousand, smokepole whitetail and got another hunter hooked on that " white smoke fever " , congrats to both of you :hatsoff:

Charlie, Congratulations on your flintlock deer and on gettin that other fellow interested in it also. :hatsoff: :hatsoff:
