Hey folks, this is Mrs Jerry P. I'm working on a horn for Jerry P for Christmas. I've got the Sibley's book, it's been mighty helpful. My question to you all is about the scrimshaw I've planned for one side of the horn. I'd like to do a cabin, some trees and a likeness of our family. Sort of what we would look like in the 1760's. I've looked at a bunch of horns with people on, but I've seen no women. Would it be alright to have all of us on, or should I only put my husband and our three sons? Also, what should I use for a strap?
Thanks a bunch - Mrs Jerry P

If it is for your husband, I'd say put you an it as well. I know if my wife did that, I would like it even more.

Straps are endless. You can use a simple cotton webbing or a simple piece of leather. Or, for a bit more fancy approach, get a strap from Wilde Weavery. They make great powder horn straps.

Good luck.
