The horn on the right is my first horn, and the bag is elk splits 7" x 7 1/2" with a Deer Leather strap I made from an 8pt I shot this year. The 2nd Horn on the left is my first attempt at scrimshaw and is supposed to be a replica of a hand drawn map that George Washington drew of my area in WV in 1756 is shows Winchester, VA, Fort Edwards (in my town), Fort Cumberland, Fort Ashby and 2 other forts with mountains, rivers, and roads showing. It's pretty crappy, but it still holds powder. Gives me more respect for you guys who turn out beautiful horns. I'll probably stain the strap to make it a little darker. The pouch plans came from "The Mountain Men" book and I also made a matching shot pouch, but forgot to post it.

I forgot to say thank you to all you guys who have helped me along the way by answering my silly questions.

Paco,
Nice gear  ! What part of West-by God-Virginia are you from? I hail from Berkeley County... adjacent to all the sites listed on yor horn :) !

Small world...I have lived all of my life in Martinsburg, work in Gore (Virginia), and hunt in Bloomery

The horn on the right I used 2 boxes of yellow and 1 box of Orange Ritberry Dye. Then used Dark Walnut stain and wiped it off. The horn on the left I used 1 box of tan and 1 box of orange and used Dark walnut stain. You will notice the horn on the left has a lighter and darker on the bottom and top. This is due to coloring of the horn, the bottom or middle of the horn was white while the top was gray to blackish. The horn on the right was naturally dark gray and blackish with little white in it.

I am impressed by the coloring. I can't seem to get mine to turn out this way.
