After almost a year of shooting, testing and barrel bending I got my 12 gauge side by side bouble barrel shotgun to pattern well enough to turkey hunt with. Sunday morning I took it out for the first time and "smoked" my first black powder gobbler!
THAT WAS AWESOME! I've never spent so much time working with a gun and finally getting such a great reward! 17 pounds, 1 1/16 spurs and 9 1/2 inch beard. The load I've ended up with is 95 grains 777 ffg - one 1/8" hard over powder card - two 1/8'" felt wads - 1 1/2 oz. #5 nickle plated lead shot - 2 thin over shot cards. Great pattern to 30 yards and that's about the limit I'm willing to shoot a turkey with it. This first turkey was within 15 yards. I don't post much but I read this forum weekly and just wanted to say THANKS for all the tips supplied by this forum!
