Hello everyone, just wanted to say I went on my first muzzleloader squirrel hunt last weekend. Tried out my recently purchased old CVA 32 Squirrel rifle made in 1983 (which I am still working up a load for). Thought it might be tough going, but was surprised how well these guns work out! I waited for head shots and got close, so had no run offs or wounded ones.
In all fairness, I have been hunting squirrels all my life with only 39,1892, and 1897 old Marlin lever action .22s and old Marlin 25-20's and 32-20's with cast bullets, so am used to hunting with iron sights and no scopes or other new fangled contraptions. Sure was a relaxing slow paced way to hunt. Had some great fried Squirrel this week too, better than rabbit in my opinion. Just wanted to let everyone know the great advice they gave me on my CVA Squirrel rifle post isn't going to waste with me just punching paper, I am putting it to actual field use :winking:
