Hey y'all I finally got my melting pot and Lee 360Gr .50 Cal Improved Mini mould from Dixie. I decided to try my hand at casting bullets since I no longer have faith in modern fancy jacketed garbage. I used scrap lead roofing flashing I got from the recyclers. I followed all of the tips and tricks from this forum and here is the result. the bullet rear right is a Dixie 350Gr Maxi Ball for comparison. The bullet that is front right was made by accident. I left the sprue cutter open and poured lead into the mould to help warm it up. The lead shrunk and produced a quasi hollow point. I decided to keep it just for the heck of it.

Those are some fine looking bullets. Wasn't that fun to cast your own? And to think you did it out of something that needed recycling anyway. Good job!

Good looking boolits you will have to tell us how they weighed up and shoot  Dave T.

It gets real exciting when you kill an animal with one that you made yourself.

Thanks y'all. I am hoping to go to the range Wed. I wish we had a nice chunk of land and no neighbors. Things would be much easier.

You did very well. Those are going to shoot great. They look exceptional. Next thing to do is make a bunch and weigh them. Only important in target shooting. My brother never weighs his and has killed a deer every year. He figures the deer can't tell.

Thanks much. I gots BIG plans for that melting pot. I also made up some sinker molds for the alloy lead I got too. I am gonna have to wait till I can afford a scale. I want to get into all aspects of muzzleloading. I would like to eventually build a Box O' Truth to see what that freak hollowpoint can do.

I guess the guys here forgot to tell you about all the addictions to muzzleloadingitis. First you cast, so you can shoot. Then you shoot, so you can cast. Next you will be building, so you can shoot,so you can cast. It never stops. You're hooked for life. The story of another muzzleloading junkie :rotf: .
