I went deer hunting today with my flintlock for the first time. Didn't see a thing but enjoyed the heck out of it. In fact, it's the first time out in 20 years for me. Also the first time I used a wooden ramrod. I broke the synthetic one supplied with my Traditions Hawken and replaced it with hickory. No problems there. I hunted the family farm that has been in our hands for nearly 200 years. It felt real good to walk in the footsteps of ancestors.

Sounds like a great day...and it gets better regarding the ancestors...wait till you lower that Flintlock back down across your lap with a buck in the leaves 50yds out front...man, what a connection to the past...like the settlers did it.
Enjoy!
