I am looking for a hardwood compartmented case for a 1851 navy & the usual accessories. Not certain about Dixie's quality (they used to sell 2 quality levels, now I think is only the lower one). Taylor's seems to have a good one, Bill's cases at Colt Percussion are superb but cost over $200. Any suggestions?

Here is a great place and you simply cannot beat his prices:

I got one of his cases for Christmas a year ago and it is well made and very good looking. I got the case for an 1860 Army and found that the '60 Army would probably fit into the Navy case as the Army case would hold my Walker if it were 3/8" longer. I got the deluxe case as my Army was engraved and it has a lid on the corner compartment like many originals did to hold a number of round balls. I've added the accessories to go with the gun and it's an impressive display. The only criticism I might ad is that the dividers are not strong enough to hold the gun and accessories if you were to use it for a range case. I will be buying more from him and I think I'll get a coffin case for my Dance. I have a pair of Spiller & Burrs with consecutive 2 digit serial #s and I might have him build a custom case to hold both along with a flask, mold, cleaning rod, cap tin and some loose balls.
