Flask needs repair

I have a brass cylindrical flask which has a brass spout on the top and a spring loaded lever on the cap. The lever moves to the open position fine but will not close by itself, as it gets stuck about half way. I can see what looks like scoring on the cap where the lever rotates.

Has anyone had this problem? Can it be fixed?

when that happend to mine it was powder dust on the inside that made it stick. think i just used soap and water to clean it up.

Same here. My clue was that the problem got worse in humid weather.
