Hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I have bought two Hawksley Copper flask recently with the adjustable brass dram measure spouts on them.

Really nice looking flask but when I put a small pen light into the flask body I can see light coming through the seams on the sides where they are put together.

Does anyone know of a way to coat the inside with anything to seal the side seams so I can use them. I'm afraid that if I tried to solder or braze the seams it would ruin the flask as the copper seems really thin and at the very least would probably discolor them.

Help :surrender:

A friend used resin to fix a similar problem. He mixed up a "hot batch" (quick hardening-a lot of catalyst), poured it in and moved the flask around (coating the area to patch) until it hardened. It worked well.

Claud's method sounds like it would work, or you might try using bees wax in the same way. That's how some of us seal the butt in powder horns. Just melt it , pour it in the flask and swirl it around 'till it cools. you won't need much wax.

I would find a tinsmith and have those seams soldered. Discoloration can be cleaned up easily with any liquid brass cleaner.

Ive done a couple of motorcycle gas tanks with Devcon brushable ceramic it does a good job just keep it thin and moving. A google search will result in some retailers
