:) Had some spare time during the last two weeks and the weather wasn't agreeable for outside stuff so I spent a little time in the basement.
step #1 ..... I took this

What a mess!Almost sickening to look at!If I was you I'd throw that ugly thing out on the Lawn sometime before 7am in the morning.I'll be on the look out for it to when I drive by......If I see it there Id

OK Soggy, man of mystery,,,what did you have to do to the horn so that you could clamp it in such
a cleaver way as to be able to bend it?????????
And my complements on the fine job you did.
 
You really did goof it up Soggy, the dang boats going in the wrong direction. :blah:

No big secret, I boil the horn in water for about 15 minutes ( some folks use vegetable oil, ) The horn then becomes quite pliable. I have a wooden core that I put inside it before clamping this prevents the horn from collapsing . I also have a couple of different size "boxes" that I use to work with various size horns ( one for priming horns, one for full sized horns etc.)
I will let the horn cool over-night , then remove the temporary wooden core (make this 2-pieces it's easier to remove) and insert the butt plug.

WARNING
Vegetable oil will cook a horn if left in very long.Don't ask me how I know.... :shake:

Halftail, I understand what you mean. Got hold of this box of mess. Hope to got a few bucks at the scrap dealer for tha copper. Horns I give to the dog to chew on. :(

what a bunch of junk, africa just passed a law making it a capital offense to trash that stuff in country. (polution and what not, etc) :nono: so send it to me and i'll trash it here in ca for you..

Grampa, it is not my junk. I just had the privilege to take photos of this fantastic collection of originals. Biggest collection I have ever seen in SA. This swivel head spout one was very interesting.

i think that swivel flask is downrite clever. it's so simple and foolproof, don't know why we don't see more of them.. :hmm:
