Hey fellers! I found a nugget last night and bought a T/C New Englander with both .50 cal. and 12 ga. barrels. Apparantly it was built from a kit and the wood is a little rough, but I can fix that. I'll tell ya' - I'm very pleased because I've been searching for a muzzleloading shotgun for a while, and they are very rare up here.

Anyway, the gun is a percussion and I'd really like a flint (my search for a nice flint fowler or fusil is NOT over ). Does anyone know if it is possible to convert this gun to flintlock? I know T/C makes some flint's, and I am hoping/wondering I can make a conversion.

Thanks!

The New Englander was never made in flint. It might be possible to convert it, but it would require cutting the bolster off the breech. Then installing a liner and a lock. Or finding a new barrel and lock. That would basically be a new gun then wouldn't it? :winking: If you decide to part company with the 12 ga. barrel let me know I've been looking for one that is less than the $175 Fox Ridge wants.

Thanks for the help Keith! That coversion sounds like a lot of work, so I'll pass. I'm still looking for a traditional flint smoothie anyway.

As for parting with the 12 ga. barrel, no can do. That's what I wanted the most (if it had been only the .50 barrel I wouldn't have been interested). Sorry!
