i've read posts in the past as some of our members posted pictures of some of there flint wallets....i'm needing some ideas as to what patterns i could come up with fer mine :v ..............bob

You don't need a pattern. Most are hand made, rectangular in shape, and have sewed separate pockets to hold two or three flints, with a wide pocket on the other side of the fold over( its a wallet) that you can carry extra leathers or lead strips in. The idea is to protect the edges of the flint from banging together, or hitting other objects and being damaged. Figure out how you want to keep the two sides of the wallet together, and you are done. I have a long strip attached to one side, that wraps around and is run through a slit in the leather, so the wallet is held together by friction, only. The roll- much better description of mine than a " wallet " stays at the bottom of my range bag, and only is taken out when I have to change a flint for some unexpected reason. I carry spare flints in my tackle box that goes to the range, or stays in the car when I am out hunting.

What Paul said. I also have three little pockets sewed into the inside back wall of my shooting bag that each hold a flint. Very handy :v

Bob, here's a couple of pictures of my wallet. It was made by another member of this Forum, who makes some quality leather items. I find this wallet to be a perfect size for For my taste. Hope the photos might be of some help......

Bob,

On most, I made my own pattern. I laid several flints onto some envelope stock and folded into what I thought would work. Sort of like a trifold wallet concept seems to be most common. I cut and stapled the heavy paper into the shape and tested it a bit. I made some adjustments for thickness and concept and then traced onto leather which I stitched into the final shape.

On the larger one, I had a wallet that a friend made in 1976 supposedly from an original. You can likely come up with something from the pic.

I have seen your work and you will do well.

No, that hammer is a multipurpose tool. It has a patch worm that is threaded to go on the handle which is screwed into the head and acts as an extender for your ramrod. It came from Colonial Williamsburg. It is available from several vendors.
