I believe that is the importers mark for Markwell Arms. They were importers of various muzzle loading guns and kits in the 60's and 70's. They are still in business (or at least someone is using that name) but no longer marketing muzzle loaders. Most of the guns they sold back then were Spanish made, similar to CVA imports. I built a couple of their kit guns years ago.
