You can get a fairly inexpensive single barrel flinter but there is no such animal as a Cheap Flintlock double barrel.

single barrel is ok ..just new at this ..is any smoth bore ok to use like a shot gun ..any good sites to find one at...not after looks just something that will work and not be manure...and what about chokes?...any help would be great

I had mine built by a fellow forum member, Bob Christian. You could send him a PM and ask about one. He is really reasonable on his prices, does good work, and is fast. His run around $750 or so. You could also check out some of the ones at Early Rustic Arms. Click here. http://www.earlyrusticarms.com/earlyrusticarms.htm

First, what do you consider cheap?

I would recommend Sitting Fox muzzleloaders. He is a good guy to deal with, and relatively inexpensive compared to some I have seen. Here is his website:

I have also felt and seen the need for an affordable double barrel flintlock shotgun. I have negotiated such a specimen in 20Ga. The first sample is being prepared. I'll give you more info once I receive it. Will be on the market in about three months time.

The Pedersoli Flint Mortimer 12 ga. shotgun is a good gun. I have one, works fine. Have not shot it much since I got my tradegun, but it is a really good gun. It has taken deer, turkey, and squirrels. Quality is very good, and have never had any problem with the lock.

I hope to be able to post some you some pic soon of the Indian made 20Ga flintlock double barrel rifle that should be relatively affordable.

As a possible alternative, I filled both of my Turkey tags in April with a Green Mountain .62cal(.20ga) Flint smoothbore drop-in barrel for a TC Hawken (or Renegade) stock...the barrel costs $160.

A flint double would be really good news, please do keep us informed. Hopefully they will use a barrel substantial enough to accommodate jug choking (many of the percussion doubles I've seen wouldn't).
