Folding Peep Sight

Variations in barrel sight height, tang length and wrist geometry made this project rather challenging. Every problem solved led to other problems and after more iterations than I care to count I believe I now have a design. This model is suitable for short - medium tang length is adjustable for windage and elevation.

Because the sight is positioned more forward than is usual for a tang peep, I find that an aperture diameter of 0.070" works well. However, it is an easy matter to make any diameter a shooter desires.

Could I point out a fatal error of your reproduction of the wheel?
Brass, and a single mounting point.
There is simply no way for the sight to remain in a stasis position, aka; solid mount,, while folding or even in transport of the gun.
It is a nicely done DIY peep though.

That was a concern when I mounted using the original tang screw. However the 3/8" diameter flat head lock bolt provides greater tension and effectively clamps the base against the tang. I am not seeing accidental movement out of alignment.

It's too easy to see the current market of 200yr+ old peep sights available.
You have a good design,, but it's made of soft metal that would be applied to hard metals under nothing but a single tension mounting point, in not only a changing environment but moving/transport conditions of common use.
Brass, under moving conditions, wears quickly.
