There is an English fort from the French and Indian War called Fort Dobbs in Statesville, NC, near where I live. They have several annual events and reenactments through out the year. April 19-20 is "War For The Empire" weekend. They have reenactors, sutlers, a Native American camp, skirmishes and lots of demonstrations all day on Saturday and Sunday. I highly recommend it if you are in the area. Well worth your time!! Here's a link to the website:

Dale, did I read somewhere that the people running the fort were taking a pretty arbitrary attitude towards the reenactors? Forbidding more than so many "long hunters" and so on? Hank

A friend of mine who attends religiously, said he has heard it too.
On a brighter note it is highly recommended and is very informative about our local history...Bud
