Well, I was all bummed out because I missed a half-stock shotgun kit in the classifieds the day before yesterday, I've been looking for a single barrel hooked breach half-stock for hunting for some time. My wife told me "well, the lord must not have wanted you to get that one". Well yesterday my son broke his clavical while sledding inside a sleeping bag down our wooden stairs (his sisters dared him to do it of course). So I had to go to the big city to have a speacialist check him out. After the doc gave him the ok, we stopped by a local pawn shop I never go to. Well low and behold a tc new englander in new shape is hanging on the wall. He wanted $259 for it but I haggled him down to $220, called my wife up after buying the gun and told her I know what the lord was up to. She didn't seemed overly convinced but she didn't give me a hard time either.

I'd say you got a good shotgun at a very good price, considering that Pedersoli doubles are going for over $700 new and over $500 used. Is it cylinder bore or does it have choke tubes?

It's cylinder bore which is fine by me because I like to shoot rb's. Though it would be nice to adjust my pattern with chokes. My only gripe is that I think the barrel is too short by fowler standards, I know it's not pc but still could use a few more inches. hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to burn some powder.

Nice find! The barrel looks short but!..have taken ducks, geese, turkey with mine...I have 2 choked barrels..I found a 12 dollar choke tube(cylinder) and have shot rb's with great 50 yard effect. No problems loading past the tube with patch and ball....Don't be afraid to have it choked . Converted one to flint and its just fun!
Good luck with your new toy..I also missed that 10 ga. kit..what a steal!

Good deal. I have a ball with mine. Great little rifle and shotgun.

Seems like mine was $180 as a kit and the rifle barrel was another $100, or something like that. Back in '88. I think it's the best muzzleloader T/C ever produced, but that's mostly from a weight to versatility for $ spent standpoint.

it certainly is a handy little bugger. I'm going to use it this year to hunt ducks over dekes if I can get her to shoot steel half-way decent.

I like mine a lot, also. It is on “garden duty” right now. There seems to be an “All You Can Eat” sign I forgot to remove standing right outside of my vegetable garden. All the neighboring rabbits are coming for the buffet. My 12 ga New Englander and me have to have a talk with them!

i got my 12 ga new englander a auction for $85. it was the last gun up for auction and i was the only one to bid on it.

GREAT!

Quick! Let's see some pictures. Please?
