Ok, I actually really like the large screw through the heel at an angle, and am 99.9% sure that I am going to do this on my current build. I have had 100% success so far..................

Anyway, is it HC (on a late English/American) fowler to have one screw in the toe, and one on the tang? I do not recall ever seeing this, but I don't know if it was ever done?

From a mechanical standpoint, I like the angle one in the heel. Just curious.

Thanks.

All I have seen had the screw at an angle at the heel. There is usually a hook on the underside of the tang which engages a cross-pin through the comb of the stock as the buttplate is slid home and makes a tang screw unnecessary.
