I have been using Goex 2f powder for all load testing in the new fowler because that was all i had. I wasn't getting the kind of results i wanted, especially with shot loads. So yesterday i went and bought a lb of 3f from the local supplier and took it out to try that in it. Right from the start it was better. Ignition was great, and i fired the first 3 rd balls into a group that was just over 3/4" center to center at 25 yds. Fired some more rd balls and got similar group. Then i tried it with shot loads. I had been getting erratic patterns with the 2f but the 3f is doing good. Think i will be using 60 grs of 3f, 4 thin overshot card wads, an index card paper shot cup that is cut to hold 7/8 oz of shot, and 1 1/8 oz of #5 lead shot for turkeys. I know the shot cup is shorter than the load of shot, but that is what seems to work. Averaging 10-12 pellets in the head neck area on a turkey target at 21 yds. I keep my shots at that range or less, so i think it will work fine.
