Now I've just got to finish enough Balls & paper cartridges for my June 4 Shoot... :hmm:

BTW: Anyone ever use (100%) Cotton Balls as a Wad? Seems like it would/could work pretty well...

Yes, triple sized ones, also newspaper and plastic shotshells. Try different combos/layers until you find something better. Might smolder a little, your Howda looks great! :hatsoff:

If I were trying to leave smoldering embers in my barrel, compressed cotton balls would probably be the way I'd do it.

What will you be hunting with a howdah???

Tamp ample newspaper over powder, creates a better seal, then you can sandwich in a little cotton if you really want, like for using shot. I also use Pyrodex, load slow (or swab) & maybe it's safer.

Little known fact about how the howda got its name. A eurpoean hunter upon seeing the first one looked at the maker and said " Howda' heck am I supposed to shoot that thing" :rotf:
