At a family reunion up around Saratoga the past few days, my Sister took me into a workshop her husband had used before he died a few years ago and asked me if I could use any of the left over items as she wanted to finish cleaning the place out...there were a lot of reloading items for many calibers that I don't use, and 15-20 cans of various reloading powders that I didn't want to transport 800 miles back to NC...but I did bring back a 25 lb bag of #9 shot, 4 25 lb bags of #8s, 1 25 lb bag of #2s, and a full box of Speer .490s.
He probably only paid a few dollars per bag way back when he bought them but a bag of shot today is at least up to $35/bag around here. Told her I'd commorate the gift by shooting a deer with one of the .490s and send her the photo.

That's a nice way to show your respect. I hope the deer gods put a nice ten pointer in front of you.

Saratoga, N.Y.?

That's just 20 or so miles from my hometown.

Just a suggestion: There's a couple of gun clubs in the area, with one of them being a BP club that's listed in the NMLRA magazine Muzzleblasts. If your Sister is serious about getting rid of the stuff that you don't need, maybe one of the clubs that He belonged to up there would be kind enough to list his stuff in the club's newsletter. Our local club has done this in the past, including posting a flyer at the club's indoor & outdoor ranges. This is better than her taking his stuff to a dealer and only getting half of what it's really worth.

Sorry to hear about the loss.

All the best,

Dave
