I never buy anything from these guys and the threatened to take me off their mailing list. Good news I thought, low and behold I'm still getting their catalog.

A long time ago I subscribed to three outdoor magazines. The two mentioned here and another one that I can't remember at this time. I believe one of these magazines is published by Time-Warner who contributes big time to the anti-gunners. They are aslo affiliated with CBS somehow. That is a network for anti-gunners. I just can't recall which mag it was but I think it was F&S. Things could be different today but I would not have that stuff in my house after I realized the connection. No offense meant.

No offense taken. I don't know anything about the magazines and don't know much about cheaperthandirt but it sounded like a good deal at the time so I shared it. :hmm:

Ive gotten a few things from cheaper than dirt. No problems from them. What has been your experience that you dont like them?

I've bought from Cheaperthandirt a couple of times and had no problems with them or thier products.

I've dealt with CTD, and had good service. i suspect they traded for advertising in the magazines, to promote the publications. Both have had serious inroads by the political correct Green Nazis, and thier subscribers are leaving in droves. They are definitely a far cry from what they were fourty years ago. You may want subscriptions to be able to have thier last published copies.

Outdoor Life , was once owned by CBS Broadcasting Company. Not sure who owns them now.
But back in the 60's, CBS ran a show on 60 min called
"GUNS of OCTOBER"
In this one view program they tried to demoralize the sport of hunting, and gun owners in general.
I drop my subscription to Outdoor Life then and have never looked at it since. Couldn't give me a truck load of them even if they are free. :m2c:

Woody...That 60 minutes you refer to, "Guns of October", has done more harm than any combination of factors the "Johnny come lately", wannabe do-gooders have come up with.

It was the "grand daddy" that started all the bleeding hearts whizzing in our wheaties, when it comes to Gun Rights, Gun Control, and Hunting.

Of course the Maple Grove incident just threw gas on a well started flame....and you know the rest of the story. I could have gone all day without thinking about that program. :curse:

I know Russ, but I suspected that some of the folks here didn't know about the show that set the spark that started the fire.
And alot of people didn't know that CBS owned the magazine at the time, and may yet today , I don't know and don't care. I won't patronize either one of them.
Some of the folks here aren't old enough to remember the show I am sure.
Sorry I brought up some bad memories but some things just settle in my gut the wrong way and stay that way for a long time. This is one of the things I have never forgotten.
I have such strong feelings against CBS that it is not on the TV in my house. Period, No ands ifs or buts about it.

Woody

Right Woody, I know exactly what you are saying. I have never forgotten that, and never will either.

Those who don't know about what we are talking about, owe it to themselves to research the subject a bit, and become familar with the story. One heck of an eye opener!

Russ

I remember watching that show and you are right, it was near the start of all the nonsense we have to put up with. I seem to recall thinking that this is just another can of gas on the fire so I suspect there was already a move on gun owners.

Thanks for clarifying the mags and their ownership. I still think one of them is published by Time-Warner which is all anti-gun unless it helps sell TV programs, movies, mags etc.

You will NOT see any Jane Fonda movies in my collection either. I dropped my VFW membership when they forgave her!
