Yeah i know if would have to be someones custom job. Seem to recall a forum member here specialized in them, Alex Fermenko or something close to that.
(Appologies on butchering name?)

Alex Efremenko is the guy I think you’re thinking of. Not sure if he’s still building though.

There’s quite a few possibilities for a FdC, but not many nearly as affordable as the India ones. On the 1717 and 1728, I don’t think there are parts or locks in production like there are that work for trade guns. The Rifle Shoppe used to make castings and maybe assemble the locks. A lot of reenactors who owned the Indian ones thought they were ok to shoot, and some just figured they were good props. I know the 1728’s are historically accurate to the colonies, but I don’t think 1717’s were common (or there at all) at that time.

I’ve got a 1717 lock i assembled. , you can buy the rest of the kit from the rifle shoppe.

Nick, i like you, but im Not going three years for some rough azz castings from TRS.
Kudos to TRS for making all that stuff, buttt negatory for taking Years to fill an order.

I don’t think it would take that long, the locks take the longest, thats what holds them up.

They just sent a 1754 Charleville to a buddy of mine in my reenactment group for me to build for him. He ordered it 5 months ago. The lock he ordered unassembled for me to build, so what holds up the order is lock assembly which can take 3-4 months to build.

The 1717 by was about 70 years old by the time of the American Revolutionary War, and was heavily used during the French and Indian War(s) . Most that were captured during the F&I War were sent over to the colonies as surplus for militia or private use.

While it’s uncommon to find a complete original 1717, it’s not uncommon to find 1717 parts on Americanized Fowler’s and muskets.
