i have a small slier flintlock that when fired the frizzen does not open the ignition is good but should the frizzen be in a fully opened position after firing i have changed flints ,moved the out ,moved them in ,i have done bevel up and bevel down ,but it still will not open right what should i do now.

Try a little moly grease on the cam and if that doesn't help you may have to grind a small amount off the cam to get it to open completely.HTH

Another thing to check is, is it really not opening all the way, or is it rebounding back to the cock? Hold a pencil, or stick in a position beyond where you think it is stoping, and dry fire the lock. that will tell you.

Mine was not fully opening and I used rem oil to lube the frizzen pivit screw/pin and that helped a lot. Now I remove the screw and frizzen when cleaning and give it a good oiling before putting back together.

Usually this problem is caused by having a flint that is too short. The flint should be almost, but not quite touching the frizzen when at half cock.

thanks to all not sure which cured the problem but it works great now you guys are the best. :hatsoff:
