The Fort Lee Scouts are hosting a Frontier Studies weekend at Fort Randolph in Point Pleasant, WV. The dates are Oct. 22-24. There will be several classes and seminars. There are several cabins available in the fort on a first come, first serve basis. Tent camping is permitted also. The fee is $15. The websites are http://fortleescouts.tripod.com/frontierstudies and http://fortrandolph.tripod.com

We hope to see you there.

Coming from Ohio, you'll cross the Ohio river into WV. Merge onto Route 2 and head into Point Pleasant. You'll cross another bridge over the Kanawha River. As soon as you cross the Kanawha, turn right at the traffic light. You'll go approx. 100 yards to a stop sign. Turn right and go approx. 1/2 mile. The fort is on the left. Hope to see you there.

There is an update on the fee. As of 10-13-04, there is no charge for attending the event. Donations will be accepted, but the original fee of $15 has been cancelled.

Eric,

How did the Frontier Studies weekend go? I wanted to attend but some things came up that made it not possible this year.

Is this going to be an Annual event?

Thanks!

Yes. Someone give us a report on what was taught and the quality of instruction.

It was a great weekend. We had about 50 reenactors in attendance. The seminars were very interesting and informative. I gave a seminar on Meriwether Lewis' activity in this area in 1803, and I showed pictures of my participation in the L&C bicentennial in 2003. We are planning to do this each year, but we will probably do it in a different month next year. This was our first "Frontier Studies" event, and I thought it was a success. Like any other event, I expect it to improve each year. Fort Randolph is wonderful. I really enjoy spending time at this fort. If you've never been to the fort, try to come to the "Seige of Fort Randolph" in may. www.fortrandolph.com
