Yeehaw! They have a match for a TVM rifle every yr. at Ft. Bridger rondevoux. I've shot for it for 7 or 8 yrs but always got beat but this year I shot a little over my head and won it. It's a dandy, I'm on cloud 9. :: ::

Congrats Deadeye,
that sure is a beautiful rifle. I have a TVM early Virginia in .50 that looks just like that one and she is a great shooter as well as a great looker. Have fun with her

Congratulations Deadeye!!

Of course you will have to break it in, and find the best load, and staple up all of those targets.

Tough work, but someone has to do it! ::

She looks like an iron mounted flintlock from here. Can you post a few close ups of it?

:RO: :RO:
Deadeye, the rifle is beautiful...but your tenacity and obvious skill is a real significant accomplishment too...congratulations on both !!

:redthumb: :master:

Congratulations on the shooting and on a fine looking rifle. I would say anyone who tried that many years was due for a bit of good fortune. Have fun with the new rifle.

Yep, It's an iron mounted, Siler flinter, Davis triggers,
42" 7/8' Green Mt. barrel, early Virginia. I'll see if I can get a closer view.

Congrats, Deadeye! You sure are! I shot up there once and all I did was break off and stick my cleaning jag in my .45 Green River Leman. I was up there Friday and looked TVM's rifles over. They do really nice work and are inexpensive. Anyone interested in a custom rifle should look carefully at them. I even bought a raffle ticket on the one for the rendezvous, but guess I didn't win it.. Well, there's still hope for the raffle ticket for that gun club back in TVM's home town. You done good!

You mean that someone that posts on this forum actually WON a shooting match!! With real bullets and powder? Against other shooters?

There is a forum rule against this kind of thing!

When good shooting is verified in front of witnesses it makes life rough on all of us certified liars! It makes folks wonder why all of the olympic grade bragging isn't put to use on ranges everywhere??

I invoke the "no shooter left behind" rule and insist that Deadeye shoot in no more matches and win no more really cool VA rifles until every registered forum member also wins a shooting match and no longer feels disgraced, left out or otherwise socially disadvantaged.

Congratulations Deadeye. I hope you enjoy the TVM for many years, and win more matches with it! Everybody desirves one "good day" at the range while people are looking at least once in a lifetime!
:imo:

Wait a minute! He said he won it in a match. This isn't verified independently. No member of this forum could possibly win against other shooters using real guns without some underhanded treachery. :blah:

Wow, Deadeye, she sure is pretty. Congratulations! That's really pretty darn cool.

Thanks, Herb. I teamed with Doc White on 2 team shoots and we won those also. A friend of mines 14 yr. old son from Vernal, Casey Cunnigham, won the junior rifle that TVM
donates and it was a small short rifle but he is 6' and with hands like a basketball player so TVM took his measurements and are building him one to fit. Pretty nice of them, I'd say. He was shooting a Traditions .50. Others were saying wow, how good is this kid going to be when he gets a real gun. That raffle gun was a beauty, hope you win it. Ghost, thanks, I did have a good day, wasn't the 1st and hopefully it won't be the last. :winking:
Keith, Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill. :blah:
Everyone, thanks

Zonie, Here's one a little closer up. Don't have enough light inside to show it very well.

Did Doc shoot his closed buckhorn sight, and that did not upset those range officers?

If he did, apparently no one noticed, I didn't. He was shooting a rifle with a black stock and , I think, a 1/2 round and 1/2 Octogon barrel. Kinda English looking 1/2 stock. We didn't have much time for socializing, The ROs
kept a watch on the clock right down to the second. We had just about time to load and shoot, no more. Doc had a beautiful pistol, damascus barrel, strange rifling, fine carving on the stock, flintlock, forgot his 3f and used 4f for the main charge and the pan.

but this year I shot a little over my head and won it
I hate you!!!!!!!!! Jus kiddin. Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!! much congrats on this accomplishment!!!!!!!!

Regards, sse
