Just finished this right side carry powder horn. Length is 16 inches around it's gentle "S" twist curve. Width at the base plug is a full 3 inches and the American walnut turned AND hand carved base has a rope pattern with strap nob. Throat is carved with the double wedding rings for attaching front of strap and has a tapered walnut stopper that is air tight. Engraving includes a scene of two early American hunters with their dogs resting after a days hunt. __ On the opposite side of the horn is a scene of a hunting dog resting next to a tree stump and two squirrels and flintlock long gun. Remainder of horn is engraved with vines and floral accent. Fancy engraved, but made to use! This horn was given an antique golden finish and darkened throat area like many of the old originals
