I am considering getting a Green Mountain barrel to upgrade my TC hawken and saw the following on the Green Mountain web page:
GREEN MOUNTAIN NEEDS TO DO A PRECAUTIONARY RECALL ON SOME OF OUR THOMPSON CENTER DROP IN BARRELS. IF YOU HAVE A BARREL IN THE FOLLOWING SERIAL NUMBER RANGE 026220-027303 PLEASE CONTACT KERRY AT, 603-447-1095 EXT.10 TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE YOUR BARREL RETURNED FOR INSPECTION.

THANK YOU AND SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE .

My new .58cal FLINT barrel is just a few numbers into that range...just got off the phone with GM.

Their concern is that since they switched to a different 'tapping' technique almost a year ago, they've discovered under a magnifying glass that the threads in the nipple seat on percussions may not be as high and sharp as normal and worried they may have a shorter life span than usual. Just have to contact them for a free shipping label, inspection, and return.

Since my barrel was a special order (they normally don't make a .58cal flint RB barrel) he couldn't say for sure if the FLINT breech plug on my barrel was one from old stock, or it they had made it using the new tapping technique for the vent liner.

He said if my threads felt normal with the vent liner on the flint breech, and the liner snugs up normally, it should be fine, to go ahead and finish hunting season and they'll inspect it afterwards just to be sure.
